Ama (Sharp Objects)
It’s your favorite small town (potential serial killer) teenage girl! HBO’s Sharp Objects was the spooky and haunting hit of the summer that left people creeped out and wanting more into the fall. Ama’s most recognizable look is from the finale of the show with her oversized pink flower crown and long white nightgown. The costume is simple and if you want to round out the whole Ama aesthetic put on a pair of roller blades.
Lara Croft ( Tomb Raider)
An eternal classic that is culturally relevant again with the remake of Tomb Raider that came out over the summer. Whether you're drawing inspiration from the OG Angelina Jolie or the the most recent Alicia Vikander, this power woman is easy to emulate. Throw on a white tank top, cargo pants, and a utility belt, put your hair in a low pony and call it a day. If you are into props recycle the old bow and arrow from your Katniss costume a few years ago and you're all set.
Dolores Abernathy (Westworld)
Although she had many different stages of consciousness Dolores's classic style always stays the same. A white lace tank top, long blue skirt, and half up half down hair will be sure to give you away as the WestWorld lead. Her signature outfit is an easy thrift find and you will be sure to make some friends who were also confused on the season finale.
Lady Bird (Lady Bird)
Lady Bird wins the award for costume you probably already have in your closet. Dress as Lady Bird by pairing a plain white shirt, cardigan, and plaid skirt with an endearingly rebellious attitude. Wrap up your arm with a temporary wrap, cast or brace to be in true lady bird fashion.
Michonne (The Walking Dead)
Being a badass zombie slaying leading lady never looked so easy! Match a pair of olive green pants with a leather vest and you've got the foundation of your Michonne costume. Add her signature bandana and of course her zombie slaying weapon of choice and you are good to go!
Pre-Fame Ally (A Star is Born)
Still emotionally raw from A Star is Born? Me too. Dress up as pre-fame Ally with this simple costume. Tie one of your favorite old band T-shirts in a knot to make it cropped and pair it with jeans or shorts. Accessorize with a metal loop or studded belt for a little extra oomf. Skip the makeup and go fresh faced for original Ally vibes.
Rey (Star Wars: The Last Jedi)
The hair really says it all. For a low maintenance costume dress in neutrals and style your hair with three buns that go vertically down the back of your head. No matter what you're wearing this distinctive hairstyle will give you an A for effort.
Shuri ( Avengers Infinity War)
You don’t have to have the wealth of this Wakanda princess to dress like her. Do your hair in her classic space buns, throw on a translucent brightly colored windbreaker, black platform boots and jeans. Add some glitter or metallic nail polish for the futuristic flare and you're all set.
Olivia Benson (Law & Order SVU)
Whether you’re gaining inspiration from season 1 or season 20 Olivia Benson is always a timeless and easy choice. She’s had so many hairstyles over the years that whatever you have will probably work. Throw on a blazer, jeans, badge and a hunger for justice and you are prime times most badass and empathetic detective.
