In our health conscious culture it seems like every week the media is swirling with a new trend to kickstart your healthy habits. Whether it is a diet, a juice cleanse or a miracle tea, there is always something new to try. With all the options out there it can be tricky to decide what fits best into your busy life. For that coveted spot I nominate essential oil diffusing.

Why you might ask?

Essential oils are simple, cost effective, and can become a part of your routine with little to no effort at all.

Your essential oil diffuser can purify the air in your home, combat bacteria, and enhance the state of mind you are striving for. For example, a few drops of lavender can work miracles for your nighttime routine by helping you fall asleep quicker and rest more soundly through the night. Diffuse eucalyptus and rosemary if you feel a cold coming on or chamomile if you are feeling anxious. While you are getting ready in the morning drop in some grapefruit essential oil to feel energized and focused as you take on the day. Many essential oils also have anti-inflammatory properties and can help prevent the growth of mold in your home. The subtle fragrances will help you inhale deeper breaths of purified air that will transform your home into not only a relaxing place but a healthy one.

The wonderful (and economical) thing about essential oils is that a little goes a long way. It only takes a few drops in the diffuser for your aromatherapy to last hours.  Thecombinationsand benefits are endless and since such little oil is required, the need to restock doesn’t come around very often. You can get your diffuser for as little as $20 at , and will last you years!

If it’s not the right time for you to invest in a diffuser you can still experience aromatherapy with some DIY tricks. If you drop a few drops of your favorite essential oil into a spray bottle with about a cup of water in it and spritz it around your home the aromas will be present for a few hours. You can also take your oils on the go, rub a few drops on your hands, cup them around your nose and inhale deeply. This option can give you the benefit of a diffuser when you are out of the house. Whichever way you choose to experience your aromatherapy the effort is minimal and the benefits are endless.
